LIMA, Peru, September 13, 2009 – Brazil
successfully defended the crown by defeating USA
25-17, 25-16, 25-27, 25-19 in the final match of
the II Final Four Women’s Volleyball Cup played
at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum on Sunday.
Regiane Bidias led four Brazilians in double
figures with 22 points, Adenizia Silva had 15
and Welissa Gonzaga and Caroline Gattaz
contributed 14 and 10 points respectively.
“I am very happy about winning the tournament
again. The team responded well to our plan in
every game and I am satisfied with the girls,”
said Brazilian coach Paulo Barros.
Hugh McCutcheon said he was also satisfied with
the performance of his team. “We could work in
some areas and do evaluations for our next
event, the NORCECA continental. I am OK with the
job done by the girls,” he said.
